Course Description:

The objective of Advanced Cupping: Spinal Joints is to educate the practitioner on the three joints associated with the spine (Atlanto-Occipital, Sacroiliac, and TMJ) and how restriction and pain in these joints can cause pain. Each joint will be discussed in detail, focusing on traumatic injuries, joint anatomy, overuse injuries, pain of unknown origin, and will cover a basic assessment for discovering local soft tissue tightness causing restricted range of motion.  Each joint will be compared to disc issues and other pain-causing reasons in the nearby spine. Practitioners will also be taught about the basics of the spine and disc issues so that they can refer out when needed. Practitioners will also learn the basics of cupping people with disc issues. Each pain pattern will have cupping suggestions and each joint will have protocols for general pain. Polyvagal theory will also be reviewed to learn how it can be utilized to improve patient outcomes. Each muscle covered will also have the acupressure association reviewed. The practitioner should leave the seminar with greater confidence in understanding each joint along with how to treat from a maintenance, acute pain, and postoperative view point. The practitioner should be able to talk to potential clients more confidently.

Learning Objectives:

  • Students will identify vertebral anatomy and potential disc issues.

  • Students will assess the Sacroiliac joints and cup to release tension and increase range of motion.

  • Students will assess Vagus nerves and release the vagus nerve.

  • Students will assess Atlanto-Occipital joints cup to release tension and increase range of motion.

  • Students will assess Temporomandibular joints and cup to release tension and increase range of motion.

  • Students will assess cervical and lumbar range of motion and cup to release tension and increase range of motion.
