This course will focus on the Rotator Cuff, examining how we can keep it healthy and how some common injuries occur. As our profession continues to expand we need to continue to explore the body and how it moves. Currently, as massage therapists, we can find ourselves working in an enormous variety of settings. Observing ourselves and others for movement patterns, and how to improve them, will be an asset.

  • Review rotator cuff anatomy
  • Understanding shoulder function
  • Symptoms of dysfunction
  • Prevention strategies
  • Treatment protocol

What to bring:
1 fitted sheet
Wear loose comfortable clothing that also allows for observing the shoulder

About your Instructor
After more than 20 years, Shannon Haughey is still excited by her work in the field of the healing arts. During that time, she has maintained a private practice as an LMT (licensed massage therapist) specializing in Shiatsu and Craniosacral Therapy. She is also a certified Infant Massage Instructor. She studied directly with Wataru Ohashi of the Ohashi Institute, NY, NY at a time when he was instrumental in introducing the west to this ancient art. The Upledger Institute has been her foundation for the craniosacral knowledge. In 2001, with the goal of empowering her clients to further influence their own health, she also completed her training to become a CYI (Certified Yoga Instructor) at Yoga on Main, one of the first yoga studios in Philadelphia. Over the years she has pursued many opportunities to teach both shiatsu and yoga including classes at yoga studios, adult evening school, private lessons and most recently, lecturing at The University of the Arts, Philadelphia, on the Eastern vs. Western perception of body and how she believes these differing ideas will, in the future, continue to grow to complement each other for the benefit of all. Shannon is looking forward to bringing her knowledge and enthusiasm to Got Your Back as it grows and enhances the lives of the community.
